Here is my Show and Tell for Friday 27th March. I can remember this chest from when I was a little girl. It belonged to my Grandpa and he kept his collection of silver spoons in it. I used to love taking them out and looking at them. I remember one of them had a handle in the shape of a rifle.
When my Gran died I asked to have this chest and I keep my jewellry in it. My dad inherited the spoons and many of them are solid silver and now they are kept in a safe not to be played with by anyone, seems a shame really. I'm sure this chest is not worth very much but it means a lot to me.

  5. Visiting from Kelli's Show and Tell!

Wow - your chest is AMAZING... truly its got a magical appeal to it. If I found this at a store I'd LEAP at it. How much more valuable to you with its cherished memories attached. Some special things are meant to be looked at, not played with! (it ensures its there for future generations to enjoy too!)

Thanks for taking the time to share with us out here in bloggie land.

  8. Beautiful chest, Janice - the colours still look rich and gorgeous. It's funny what we attach value to - when my Grandpa died I asked for the tin he kept his sweeties in. We were always allowed to choose a sweetie just before we went home every time we went to visit him. Several cousins also wanted the same tin - funny, huh?!
