A Girly 365 + some Easter Tags

I thought I'd show you the tags I made for the Easter Eggs and gifts for my family.  A bit of Distress Ink a couple of stamps and some doodling!

Pastel - 365+1

Mini-eggs have beautiful pastel coloured shells and I dug up this old collab kit called Sunshine Sweets which was part of a blog hop giveaway in 2008.

I dare you...

I was doing this hybrid challenge over at Gingerscraps and I realised that the hybrid flower kit was perfect for the DCM challenge.  This week the Daring Cardmakers challenged the card making world to make a card to celebrate Spring or Easter, here is mine:

 

The background, including the string, ribbon and text, is created in Photoshop Elements and printed out to fit the card.  The flowers are made from a template and the digital papers are 'clipped' to the template, then they are  printed out onto card, cut out and assembled.

What colour are the hyacinths?

Here are the hyacinths that are in my Easter Basket.  The blooms have really come out in the last couple of days and they are ....BLUE (Karen!).   I love the scent of hyacinths but it makes me sneeze, DH, on the other hand said "I keep wondering why it smells of burning rubber in here" - there is no hope!

In my Easter ' Basket' with all the flowers upon it....

Last summer my mum made me some strawberry jam, she packed the jars into this basket which would have been the one that the punnets of strawberries came in.  My crafty eye caught sight of it and I knew that it could be 'upcycled' into something more beautiful.  It's beeing hanging around with all the other things that I would like to alter since then.

The basket was painted with acrylic dabbers in butterscotch then I stamped over with the Cornish Heritage Farm backgrounder 'canvas' to give the basket weave effect.  I lined it with red gingham type fabric and found some broderie anglais at Dunhelm Mills to finiths it off. The paper 'straw', chicks and the hyacinth all came from Tescos (plant was half price!) and the glittery eggs came in a pack of  9 for £1.50 at a local stationers.  

I took the pictures last week and the hyacinths are now flowering, I'll try and get another picture of them to add to the post later.

My Friday Photo Flashback also has a bit of an Easter theme.  I first started going out with my now husband on Easter Monday 1979, 31 years ago.  This picture of him is from a year or so before I met him, but I think he looks absolutely gorgeous XXX

Easter Treats

First some traditional Easter treats. These Easter Chocolate Fudge Cakes are from a recipe on the BBC Good Food webpages and very delicious they were too - lots left for tomorrow and Monday.

Next I am showing you the Maze book that Kathy Black made for Ellie Wiseman's Auction over on Bubbly Funk Forum. I was lucky enough to win this in the auction and it was worth every penny. I cannot believe how much work Kathy put into this book, everything is perfectly made and beautifully finished. I take it out and look at it, then wrap it up again. I will have to wait for a very special occasion before I put any photographs or journalling in this book.

Last, but by no means least, in the Easter treats is the CD book made by Rosie (Freycob), another auction win. I put my crafty CDs in it last night, it is really too good to use every day. It's been sitting on the mantlepiece in our bedroom for a couple of weeks because it goes so well with the orange walls! Just in case you think that sounds a bit odd, the bedroom has a sort of Indian theme with shisha glass and an elephant patchwork hanging which I posted on here a long time ago. Also our house is an old one, hence the fireplace and black marble mantlepiece.

Anyway, it is pretty gorgeous, don't you think?

Hope you enjoy the Easter weekend whether it has a religious meaning to you and is therefore a very special time or whether it gives you the chance to spend time with friends and family or do something special for yourself. Having spent last weekend with family and friends, I'm planning a quiet weekend. The weather forecast is not that good, but if it is nice we will probably be working in the garden, if it snows, as is forecast, then I will be inside crafting - either way I will be happy!
