Ruby Slippers and Sister Act!

If the Shoe Fits...
buy it in every colour, as the saying goes!

We all wear them, don't we? so this week I would like to lots of footwear on your cards.
Boots, shoes, sandals, trainers, ballet shoes, slippers.... the list is almost endless so I'm sure there'll be some fab fancy footwork to admire this week.
One thing, though - no cheating, please - We don't want any sneaky stuff like "My Tilda's wearing shoes so I'm entering this card" - oh no, we're far too mean to allow!

(and Sue says she'll be checking up on you :-0)

That's the Dare at the Daring Cardmaker's Blog this week and
here is my card:

I'm also using the Whispers of Colour prompt on Bubbly Scrumptious for this card, it's Red, white and blue!

It's my sister's birthday soon and I've always loved the song 'Sisters' in the film 'White Christmas'.  My sister and I used to sing it to each other, so following the theme of musicals that started with Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend.  I've made this card showing Rosemary Cluny and Vera Ellen with lots of bling and feathers!
I used the Fiskarettes sketch again and this is the card that I am entering into the competition.

A Girl's Best Friend

This week on Daring Card Makers it's the beginning of a new month and therefore it's time for a new birthstone to inspire our card making.
The birthstone for April is the
Diamond
"How you decide to use the birthstone is up to you, it may be a card for someone who has a birthday during this month, featuring "diamonds. or it may be a card that refers to the meaning or mythology surrounding the stone - anything goes, really as long as somehow the birthstone is hinted at."

I thought that 'hinting' was quite a good idea and, of course, diamonds must mean Marilyn Monroe and Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend!

I've had these papers for a very long time, they are from the Meg Collection from Making  Memories, the font for the sentiment is, of course, Hollywood.  The 'diamonds' and 'sapphires' are from a vintage brooch which has been kicking around in my junk box for  two or three years.  I also tried out a sketch from Fiskarettes which is part of a competition, but you have to make an original project so I can't submit this one.

Another three pages and a DCM!

I haven't managed to take part in the Daring Card Makers challenge for a few weeks, mainly due to making scrapbook pages!! This week I've used the theme to make a Mother's Day card for my Mum, I decided not to put Happy Mother's Day on the outside but put it inside instead.

We have arrived at the start of another month which means it is a colour theme based on the birthstone of the month -

Aquamarine.
Its an interesting stone as it comes in various colours - aquamarines come in sea blue; sky blue; blue green and sea green which is a lovely broad sea/sky palette. The crystal structure is hexagonal. It is also associated with the properties of faithfulness, courage and friendship.

The image is from The Graphics Fairy and I was inspired by Caroline's card featuring punched lace on the Fiskarettes site.

And here are another three scrapbook pages. This one features little punched out photos of all the close family, including some who are no longer with us.

My son is a talented musician, but there are not many photographs of him playing. I converted the three photos to black and white to create this monochrome page.
He is also an artist and recently returned to college to study art, most of his work is not at home, so I was somewhat limited in what I had available to use, so lots of my doodling too. I also managed to fit in the 'Stitch' stamp from Stampotique. This is probably my favourite page.
There are another couple of pages which I'll post up tomorrow.

Oh no, Snow!

The Fiskarette Monday challenge this week is to make a project with a snow theme. I haven't done many digital layouts recently so thought this would be a good time to do one.

Fiskarettes - Recycle Challenge

I am a bit predictable when it come to recycling challenges. I always look for the latest Cath Kidston catalogue! There are always pictures of the lovely fabrics which I've used to make my card, I'm just waiting for Cath Kidston to catch up with Laura Ashley and get into papercrafts.

Fiskarettes - Egg Hunt Challenge

The competition theme is to create a project where you hide an egg within your project - could be a papercraft project, fabric, jewellery, anything you can think of! The subject is ‘Egg Hunt’…

I have hidden three chocolate lolly pops behind the Easter Eggs. I used digital elements from Pineapple Plantation and Franziska Altmann.

Oops, meant to say that this has also been inspired by Sketch 2009, No. 8 from Kathy's Waffle Sketch File

Star card

I made this card for the Fiskarettes blog competition. I love those pictures taken in space and this was a good excuse to use one on a card!
