Double Dare

Stamp: Daniel Torrance for Stampotique, paper border: Crate Paper Restoration Collection.

Last week, the Daring Card Makers were in full on Royal Wedding mode. I made my card during the week, but just didn't get around to blogging and linking it, so I am posting it now with my card for the current dare.  I thought this young lady looked like she could have been a very patriotic guest or one of those many people who filled the Mall in her red, white and blue.

Scan of original vintage Christmas Card, papers Websters Papers. Lace,  ribbon, buttons & brad from stash.
This week the Dare, being the first in May, is flower related and the two flowers on offer were Hawthorn and Lily of the Valley.  I love Hawthorn flowers, but I knew I had this image which I scanned from a Christmas card belonging to Mr Serial Crafter's grandmother.  I have always thought it was a strange flower to have on a card at Christmas but there you go.  The verse reads as follows:

All Happiness be thine this Christmas
Year after year I pray your life
May ever grow more bright and fair,
May you earth's sweetest crown wear,
And all your days with joy be rife.

That's a bit odd too lol!  The triangular shape of the card lent itself well to an easel card.

  2. 2 lovely cards - and what a style difference between them! Love the red white and blue one with that fab stamp. You're right about the strange verse and the lily of the valley on a Christmas card - maybe its something to do with purity?
For some reason your card reminded me of those old style handkerchief sachets older relations used to give as presents - which never got used lol
It's a sweet and romantic card, very vintage.

  3. Great contrasting cards here Janice! Love Moth Fab in her patriotic outfit and your vintage lily of the valley image is very pretty (although I agree - odd for Christmas!)

  4. I really like your gothic girl image- having seen some of the crazier costumes at the wedding I think she would definitely have fitted in! The red whitw and blue them suits last weeks dare perfectly. I love Lily of the valley for any occaision, your triangular easel card looks beautifully vintage.

  5. She could well have been one of the guests at the wedding - so glad you decided to post that card I love these Stampotique images and your card is fab!

Love your vintage Lily of the Valley card too - it's very pretty and I can't imagine why it was used on a Christmas card either.

    Love Lynda xxx

  8. It certainly is originally a strange choice of flower for Christmas, but it's been used superbly for this gorgeous card - love everything about it. And the 'wedding guest' is very glam! x
