The water board are replacing the pipes all along our top road. The notice in the local paper say that this may go on until 3rd of March! Fortunately we have another route out of our farm but there are all kinds of things that haven't really been considered. We had to phone the council about the refuse collection, no-one had informed them and there is no way we can wait until March to get the bins emptied! They are going to arrange to send a smaller truck which will be able to get through. I also spoke to the postman and he hadn't been told what was going on either, but wasn't able to make his deliveries to the houses whose only access is on that road.
This is the view from one of our upstairs windows, looking up our road towards the activity of the water board.
And now we wait to see whether it is going to snow and if so, how bad it is likely to be. It's not a lot of fun having snow out in the countryside as travel becomes very difficult. It could also delay the work on the road and continue the disruption for even longer.
These companies like water, electricity an gaz are really amazing, aren't they? They close a road without thinking what happens to the people on the other side. I hope you have it sorted soon and it won't snow ! xx
ReplyDeleteLife can be really difficult at times and these large firms don't think about the daily probs shutting a road can bring!!
ReplyDeleteWe too are waiting for snow, we live in a very hilly area so 1" causes chaos and transport comes to a halt!!
Great photos to record your year!
Oh no - that's a very long time! Hope it gets sorted sooner and the snow is not too unkind.
ReplyDeleteMarch would be a ridiculously long time to wait for bins to be emptied. Hope it's all sorted soon x
ReplyDeleteOh no that looks thoroughly miserable!! Hope things get sorted out for you soon on a practical level and you don't get hit with too much snow next week.
ReplyDeletewhat a long time to close a road and one you rely on too! i hoe it soon gets sorted and things can return to normality x
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky that we have another access road which won't be blocked, so hopefully will get the bins emptied next week!
ReplyDeleteHope that gets cleared up soon! What a mess. Thought we might get snow last night too, but didn't. Hopefully you got a miss.
ReplyDeleteHope it gets sorted soon and you don't get a lot of snow to make things worse!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a tough week,
ReplyDeleteThisdayilove
Hope the disruption is over soon
ReplyDeleteoh no! we have the energy company digging up our road soon......hope they don't shut our road!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed you don't have snow then.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think that the council would have been informed wouldn't you!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you don't get too much snow and work can progress quickly and efficiently!
Bit more understanding of our earlier conversation now; the snow would really make it unbearable for you at the moment!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up
Amazing to think that there is no joined up way to notify essential services of road closures. I hope they fix it soon and that the snow hasn't made things worse.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nightmare for you. Hope you get it sorted.
