Another notebook and Art Journal Card

I covered another notebook for the Think Pink sale and borrowed an idea from Gez over on Bubbly Funk Forum, she covered the chipboard 'ribbon' with paper, but I thought I would try it with fabric and I'm very pleased with the result. The button is ceramic, I only had one left and it

I haven't done my Art Journal cards for ages. This one was inspired by the Jolomo address book I got for my birthday, more than inspired really, as I have tried to recreate the picture on the front. I really enjoyed using the acrylic paint and will definitely use it again.

The theme for this card was 'Qualities you aspire to'.

There are fairies at the bottom of my garden...

Well to be more precise, at the side of our road under the hedge! Brian left me a note to take the camera out and have a look behind the hedge and there it was, a huge toadstool! I just had to find some fairies to go with it, so I've used this lovely freebie July 08 Quick Page from Janette Padley at Dragon's Lair Digital Designs to show off the perfect landing pad for fairies.

Sunflowers

This seems to be the only kind of 'sun' we are going to get this week. These are my MIL's sunflowers, they have finally decided to flower and very gorgeous they are too, that bee thought so as well - hee hee.

DCM & Think Pink Challenges

DCM
OK, this week it's Tanya's turn to set the dare and this time it's a dare with a POINT! A nice sharp point, at that!
This Way!
I want to see arrows on your cards - whether big, small, staright, curly, lots or just one arrow

I managed to combine this with the Think Pink numbers challenge, I have to acknowledge Kathy Black for the idea for this card. It is based on the card she did for one of the Bubbly Funk Kits and for those of us who subscribe, there is the Bubbly Scrumptious blog with lots of inspiration on it. I wanted to use the ribbon which came in the kit - as it has arrows on it - and when I saw Kathy's card I knew that I had to use it for inspiration.

This is another Think Pink numbers card. I used Carol Ann's Studio CD 'Handyman' for the papers and decoupage. The number is shrink plastic which I painted with acrylic paint before shrinking.

I volunteered to make some name badges for the think pink helpers, including pink in the men's badges was considered a challenge, but I really enjoyed it. I am sure they are man enough to wear a bit of pink.

These two cards are for the Sew Nice challenge for the Think Pink sale supporting Breast Cancer Care. I made the little quilt and the hanger and the background is stamped with an elusive images stamp.

The card below was made using a soldering iron! You fuse organza onto Kunin felt and then machine embroider over it. I haven't done any of that for a while, must put it on my list.

Drumlanrig Castle

On Sunday, I took my Mum and my sister to Drumlanrig Castle. This is the approach to the castle from the drive. It is one of those long 'Pride and Prejudice' type drives, you can just imagine arriving in your carriage (one for 'Her Majesty', Tracey!)
This is a plan of how the house and garden was laid out. We went round the castle and had a look at the gardens, they also have a Farmers Market once a month and we were lucky that it was on Sunday, so had a look round that too.
This is my Mum and my sister outside the castle - you can see that they are behaving themselves in a ladylike manner!

Don't know who these two mad laughing types are though! Well...actually, we were laughing because I took off my glasses for the photo and then Mum took her's off too - ah vanity!

A little bird told me...

I am in infrequent visitor to Splitcoast Stampers Forum, but I saw Angelnorth was running the Crafty Secrets challenge over there, so it though it would be rude not to join in. The theme was ORANGE. I used the Crafty Secrets bird notes stamp I got from Joanne in an RAK. The background is a Cornish Heritage Farms stamp called Cracked Montana Earth, one of the stamps I got my American visitors to bring over for me. I'll be putting this one into the Think Pink sale, even though it isn't one of the challenges.

Birthday Cards & Pressies

I am stealing Hazel's (Craftyhazelnut) idea of embedding a slideshow in my blog to show you all the lovely cards I received and some of the presents too. Many thanks to all the lovely members of Bubbly Funk Forum for their beautiful handmade cards.

Think Pink - Tartology

Last week's Think Pink challenge on Bubbly Funk was to 'tart' up a notebook. This was a good excuse to play with my bookbinding glue. The little notebook with the single flower is covered in fabric. The larger reporters book is paper covered.

Think Pink - Multifold cards

It's think pink time again. This time we have been challenged to create multi-fold cards. I decided I should use my cuttlebug more, so I created this little gatefold card with an inked cuttlebug embossed topper and inside some rainbow card embossed with the Happy Birthday folder.

This card is a tri-fold and I thought this time I would do a 'man' card! I got the two stamps from a swap on Crafts by Carolyn Forum ages ago, so I'm afraid I can't tell you what they are. I used watercolour crayons to creat the rainbow effect and then covered them with UTEE to get a glossy effect. This had the added bonus of makign the card curl a little at the edges giving it even more of a vintage effect. Paper is Basic Grey - Sublime and buttons were from the Think Pink Brown and Blue Kit, from Bubbly Funk.

Brian's Birthday 'Card'

This is the 'card' I made for my husband's birthday. I had the template saved on the computer and it is by Sherry Graves, but I just can't remember where I found it. I embossed the celtic stamp and the 'Stampin' up' sentiment stamps with gold and also did the edge of the mug and the edge of the handle. Inside the mug is a package of very yummy chocolate biscuits.

This is the card that our dear son, Steven and his girlfriend, gave to Brian. Hee hee hee.

Think Pink - Any Occasion in Black and Pink and Gift tags

It's Think Pink time again. I've been a bit slow getting these finished, so there are two challenges to post instead of one. If you don't know what Think Pink is by now, click on the logo in the left side bar of my blog to go to the Think Pink Blog.
Karen challenged us to make 6 Christmas Gift Tags. I was really quite pleased with these, they were an idea that kept me awake at night! I got the template for the parcel from Cuddly Buddly and the paper is Dovecraft Christmas Blues on Silver mirror card. I punched two holes in the card 'ribbon' and threaded through the real ribbon.
This challenge was to make two 'any occasion' cards in black and pink. The paper here was a magazine freebie.

This is the last of my very favourite paper, I love it's sparkly, swirlyness. The ribbons are from the ones I got in Edinburgh.
