Another 365+1 Catch up!

Worn 27.11.12

A very busy week at work with quite a lot of travelling around and being late home means I didn't get much done in the way of layouts for 365+1.  I'm catching up tonight, next week is not quite so busy so hopefully I'll be able to post more often.  Our road gets very worn by traffic and weather,  it's an 'unadopted' road, so we have to maintain it ourselves, we usually get a load of gravel every year as tarmac is very expensive.

Worn 28.11.12
I was very impressed by these Pudsey biscuits that my daughter-in-law made for Children in Need, they were not only perfectly decorated, but very thin and crisp biscuits too.  Keeping them whole was quite a feat and they didn't last long in our house!

Debris 29.11.12
Some of the 'debris' created by our grandson when he comes round to play.  Everything has to come out of the toy box, but he does have to help to put it away before he goes home.

Aysymmetry in Nature 30.11.12
I didn't take this photo today, but I could have as it was very cold and frosty this morning and it has been for a couple of days.  It's freezing again tonight, hope it doesn't last too long.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Lonely - 365+1

My MIL was on a holiday to the Cowal Peninsula last week.  She brought back this map, and it occurred to me that, while it is a very beautiful place, it could be lonely there, particularly when the weather prevents the ferries.  The Cowal Peninsula is attached to the mainland of Scotland, but it's a very long way to drive from the central belt of Scotland and all the way down the peninsula, much quicker to hop on a ferry.

Forgotten - 365+1

Lliella - Flavours
I've cheated a bit here, using a digital quick page.  We sat down to eat our chicken broth at lunch time and were almost finished when I remembered that I had some chicken from the carcase, used to make the stock, and I had forgotten to put it in the soup!

Paint, Gloomy, Wintry Day - 365+1

DSD by Athena - All about me

I could have taken a photo of the paint pots that seem to live by the back door, but instead decided to use a photo of an art journal I started but never finished!  That is quite common for me, good intentions but then get fed up and move on, or simply run out of time.  I used an old poetry book I had bought when I was about 19, it wasn't a very good one, no idea why I kept it.  Anyway , it made a good base for the journal.  One day I may revisit it and finish it.
Irene Alexeeva
After all the very heavy rain and flooding we have had last week, we woke to a hard frost this morning.  The flooded field had frozen overnight and the reeds were sticking up through lace-like ice patterns.  Perfect for photographs!  It was rather gloomy all day, the freezing fog never lifted in our little part of the world although, according to my husband it wasn't as bad elsewhere.

Aimee Harrison - Wintry Day
I really didn't like the 'sad' prompt, I don't want to think about sad things.  So I am giving you another wintry day photograph, a close up of the fine shards of ice that had formed between the grass. The kit I used is called 'Wintry Day' so I thought that was an apt title.

I've come to a bit of a conclusion about next year's photo challenge.  I have been playing around with various apps for my phone, so will be taking the photos with my phone and, although I may do the occasional layout, I will be sticking to photos, hopefully meaning I don't get behind!

Crowd - 365+1

Easter in the Kitchen
We don't have many crowds where I live, so I thought I'd give you a crowd of golden daffodils.

Bridge - 365+1

Summer Dust - DDD Collab
It's nice to look back at a beautiful view on a beautiful day when it's pouring with rain and blowing a gale outside!  This photograph was taken on Drummond Hill looking down on Kenmore and the bridge over the River Tay.  As I had a little more time today I went looking for some inspiration and found it in Scrap 365 May 2012,  where I scrap-lifted a layout called Cherish by Morag Cutts.

Wet - 365+1

Template - Designs by Mozz, Kit - Granny Finch's Garden by Snickerdoodle Designs
Suzie has given us a free choice today.  Although I am not at work today, I have been quite busy trying to sort out my house.  The weather in Scotland is particularly grim today, with rain and high winds.  As I looked out the window, I could see the mist coming over the hill and the rain blowing horizontally across the fields.  Added to that the water is rising fast in the field beside the house.  The rivers are bursting their banks at the usual places, fortunately our house is high enough up not to be affected.  The forecast for the rest of the week is much the same, not very pleasant at all.

Playful - 365+1 and a busy day

Here is my grandson being playful at Halloween, he was wearing his spider costume and larking about.  He was in to see us today as we had a family party with my husband's cousins and was just as playful.

We usually have them round nearer Christmas, but brought it forward because recently we have had to cancel quite often due to bad weather.  I spent all day yesterday cooking and baking and all morning doing last minute bits and pieces and setting the table, extra chairs etc.  Was completely exhausted after everyone left and we had tidied up, fell asleep on the sofa for half an hour and feel a bit better, but am glad that I have a couple of days off work now.

Books - 365+1

Sit Back and Relax - Digital Crea
I always have a pile of books beside the computer.  It seems that no matter how often I tidy them away another pile appears within days.  They are mostly cookery books that I am consulting for inspiration but the pile also features my notebooks, some letters and stuff I've printed off to look at later.

I've got a couple of days off next week so hope to bring a little order to my living room, including putting away some of the books!

Fence - 365+1

I know from comments that you like to see little glimpses of our farm and home.  Fences are something that we have plenty of and I had plenty of choice of photos!  This is an unusual view of our home, as it is taken from a swampy part of our field which is flooded for about 60% of the year.  I liked the converging lines of the different fences so chose a similar paper by Maya de Groot.

Uplifting - 365+1

I was struggling to think of anything uplifting, the only thing I could think of was my bra!  I did ponder for a second as to whether I should take a photo of it, but then thought the better of it.  I then remembered that I had this stamped image of a cat using a bra as a hammock.  I was sent it in an image swap years ago by lovely Karen at Karen's Carry Ons.  So I took a photo of it instead and I'm rather pleased with the way the layout turned out.

Nostalgic - 365+1

As the prompt for today is 'Nostalgic' I thought I would look for an old layout as well as a nostalgic moment.  My Dad loved his boat and always went sailing around the coast of Scotland in the summer months.  When my younger son was born, he joked that, with two boys,  he now had a crew for his boat.  Unfortunately, they didn't show a lot of interest, perhaps if we had lived nearer they might have got more involved.   However, a couple of years before my Dad passed away, Andrew did go on a trip with  Dad and his friend Alfie.  He said he was bored and spent most of his time with his earphones in, listening to music, but it is a memory he is sure to treasure as the years go on.

Refreshing and Thoughtful - 365+1

I'm trying not to get quite so far behind with my layouts for Suzie's 365+1 this week.  Only two to catch up on today.  A couple of nice glasses of cold beer for 'Refreshing'.

My grandson loves to play with our little Flip video camera, he likes me to film him and then he watches the films back. I think he looks very thoughtful here.

Bright - 365+1

Denim Days - Coppercurls Designs

Today's prompt is 'Bright'.  It was a bright day on Saturday and I caught a glimpse of a buzzard which had been chased from his perch by some crows.  Not easy to see the buzzard so I've added a little arrow to help!

Papers - 365+1

Sugarplum Paperie - Calico Harvest, Musical melod, Softly

There are papers everywhere in my house, newspapers and magazines,  books, printed papers, scrapbook papers, computer paper.  What would we do without paper!

Group 365+1

DB Designs - Photo Mask, Photocowgirl - Grandma's Cottage
Guess what?  I actually managed to take this picture today - hurrah!  The day started off very wet, cold and horrible.  There is even snow on the hills in the distance.  We had an early hairdresser's appointment in town and I was wishing I didn't have to leave the house, but by the time we got there the sun had come out.

When I got home we had a couple of jobs to do outside and I noticed the lovely reflection of the sheep in the flooded part of the field, I got quite excited when I realised they could be a 'group' of sheep and fit perfectly with the prompt.  This made up for my disappointment at missing a shot of the geese flying north in their customary V formation.
