Sewing Box Envy

I've seen this lovely sewing box on the Cath Kidson webpage. It is so lovely, I really want it but at £40 it does seem a little excessive when there is nothing actually wrong with the one I have already, maybe it could double up as a handbag...hee hee.

21st Birthday

It was my eldest son's 21st birthday on Friday. Here he is between me and his Dad. We went out for a Thai meal on Friday night and then visited family on Saturday, when this picture was taken.

Sunrise

On Wednesday morning, we had the most glorious sunrise, a lot of shepherds must have been worried! I've digi-scrapped it using the free download from New Life Dreams, Dazzling Evening. Unfortunately, we haven't seen the sun since then as the rain has been pouring down since then.

How to make the Exploding Prism- Thanks Sara

Thanks to everyone for their lovely comments on my exploding prism card. As one or two people have asked how this is done, I realised that I should have credited Sara Sandberg at Time for Crafting I have linked here to the instructions for the Exploding Prism where Sara has generously shared her PDF templates (which I used) and GSD files for anyone with a Craft Robo. It was really a lot easier to make than I thought it would be.

Yay, Rosie has joined the Craft Journal Team

I've been writing occasional craft articles for Craft Journal for a little while now. Lisa, who runs Craft Journal has been looking for some new team members and Caroline on Bubblyfunk was kind enough to let me post a request on the forum. The result of this is that Rosie Guthrie has joined the team. Found some photos I forgot to blog

I took these just after New Year, when I went looking for the wild ducks in our flooded bit of swamp. The ducks flew off as soon as I went near, so I had to make do with some rather wet looking pictures. The one above is my tree and this one will be going in the digi journal I am going to make of the tree over the year.

This is the back of the willow patch that grows along with the reeds in the field next to the house known as 'the side o' the hoose' field - we are nothing if not literal!

This is the side we see from the house, another lovely tree in the background, it's a Scots Pine and we have had buzzards nesting in it in the past. As well as the ducks we have a pair of herons which frequent this flooded bit of land and one year there was a baby. It's like living in your own wildlife sanctuary.

No pictures

It is very frustrating to be crafting and taking pictures but not posting. I don't want to put my scrapbook LOs on my blog just in case, Steven decides to have a look. Not very likely, but he knows I have a blog and it wouldn't be that difficult to find it. I'll do the whole lot after his birthday.

I have posted on my Farmersgirl Kitchen blog, a dessert with Pears, Chocolate and Cinnamon for a challenge on The Cooks Journal, it came out rather well.

Birthday Card

My MIL asked me to make a card for a friend's little girl. The paper is from Carol Ann Studio, Patchwork Petals CD which I stitched round the edge. I was very pleased with my letters as I created them by uploading the spotty paper from the same CD onto Photoshop Elements and then created a new layer on which I typed an 'open' font, so the paper showed through. I stuck them on cardboard and cut them out then inked the edges. I didn't do that with the '3' though, it is chipboard from Bubbly Funk Shoppie which I covered with the same paper.

Snow

I've posted these snow pictures in chronological order. When I got up this morning it was white everywhere, I took the picture of 'the tree' at about 8am when it was barely light, so it's not a great picture, but I wanted to get it with the snow.

By the time I crawled along the roads to work it was 8.50 when I arrived and I caught this lovely sunrise over the snowy bushes. Yes, this is where I work - I am not a parkie, but work at what used to be a Victorian lunatic asylum (no jokes please, I've heard them all) then psychiatric hospital but with care in the community the buildings were not being used, so they were refurbished and house a variety of different organisations. However, all this means that we are in beautiful sandstone buildings set in glorious tree-filled parkland, very suitable for dog walking!

William loves the snow and was rolling in it later. The stuff here was a bit wet as it was on the playing fields and lots of people had been out with dogs earlier and been rolling big snow balls too. He was running about but also posed for me - he does love lots of attention and knows that I have treats for him in my pocket.
