Live life in colour

Yes, you are right!  I have gone digi-scrapping crazy, probably because I CAN get to the computer but I CAN'T get near my craft desk.  We are still in the process of decorating our den and all the furniture is piled up at the craft desk end of the room.
Back to the photograph and layout...there are some photos that draw you to scrap them again and again, and this is one of them.  I have always been fascinated by my parent's wedding photo and the multicoloured dresses of the bridesmaids and flowergirls, it is unusual now and probably even more unusual in the 1950s.

Snickerdoodle Designs Tutorial

I've been doing a little bit of testing for Karen Schultz of Snickerdoodle Designs.  Karen has produced a great tutorial for loading Layer Styles to Photoshop Elements, available in the Digital Design Den Newsletter this week, and before posting it she asked for some volunteers to try it out.

I've looked at layer styles, I've even downloaded them, but when I got near the settings in PSE I always backed out.  This tutorial is super easy and there is a version for every operating system and many versions of PSE.

Karen also has a freebie of some styles so you can try out the tutorial,  why not pop over to her blog and have a look?

Here is a tag I made using Karen's Outside my Window Styles:

Are you fed up of the wedding photos yet?

Another wedding layout using the Back to Basics Kit from DSD by Athena available at the Digital Design Den.  The photograph has been converted to a pencil sketch using instructions from the, sadly now defunct, Digital Scrapbooking Magazine.

Whispers

The Theme for the Soartful Challenge this week is 'Whisper'.  I used this lovely kit called Lavender Time by Ninie Designs to create my layout.

More Magic!

Another digital layout using 'Remember the Magic' the kit from DSD Athena, there are some really great elements to show off your photos of visits to the Disney parks.

Remember the Magic!

There's a new kit out by DSD by Athena called 'Remember the Magic' it's perfect for scrapping Disney photographs, but when I saw the colours in the kit I immediately thought about using this photograph of my boys when they were dressed up as Penguins with a giant chocolate Penguin biscuit which I made from a cardboard box!

Sketch is Pencil Lines 193

You can get the kit HERE

The Field Daisy

I think I mentioned that I have been getting back into digital scrapbooking and joined the Digital Design Den.  I've also become  A DSD Darling, one of the DT for Digital Scrapbook Designs by Athena Gray.

This layout features the Funky Expressions Kit, the photograph was taken at Loch Rannoch where there were all these beautiful wild daisies.  The poem is called The Field Daisy by Ann Taylor.

Puttin' on my Top Hat

I'm not sure if I've shared with you my love of old MGM musicals.  I spent many a happy Sunday afternoon watching Fred & Ginger dance their way through misunderstandings to true love and also loved Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Danny Kaye.  So when the Soartful Challenge is 'Beautiful Men from the movies' it had to be someone from that incredible musical era.

Now Fred Astaire's face could never really be described as beautiful, but what he could do on the dance floor was without a doubt the most incredible and inspiring sight that any young girl could see.  So here is my tribute to the master of movie dancing, Mr Fred Astaire.

Brand New Digital Forum - Digital Design Den!

I've joined a new Digital Forum, the DDD or Digital Design Den.  I haven't been digi-scrapping much recently but was invited to join by Traci who used to be part of the Digital Craft Cottage, which closed earlier this year.

There are some good challenges at the Den so I have been making some LOs.

This lovely Black & White Kit is 'Back to Basics' by Designs by Athena Gray and came as part of a great bargain Grab Bag. As soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect for the wedding photos of my B&W outfit.

This challenge was a historical one, to post an event that happened in  your country in July between 1600 and 1900.  I did a bit of Googling and found that Robert Burns died in July 1796.  The paper and elements are from 'Outside my Window' kit by Snickerdoodle Designs.

The last LO also uses the Outside my Window Kit and is a triple scraplift i.e. you had to take inspiration from three different LOs and use them to create a new layout.  Photo is from my holiday, including the cut tree.

Last Day - Queens View, Rannoch Forest and Loch Rannoch

On Friday, our last day, we headed towards Loch Tummel and the Queen's view.  There was a bit of haze on the hills so the view wasn't quite as good as I have seen it before.

We had planned to go on a walk in the Allean Forest, but it was closed due to forestry work so we headed further west to Rannoch Forest by Loch Rannoch.  We actually took the wrong road to the Forest car park but were very glad we did when we saw this Red Deer.

We seemed to have spent a lot of time looking over bridges at water!

Here is some of that water, with the distinctive brown tinge from the peat in the soil.

As we came down through the forest we saw this lovely still pond behind a wall, there was a little path down to it, round the side of the wall.

There were some dragonflies buzzing around the edge of the water, it wasn't easy trying to get a photo of the dragonfly, but I managed to catch one of them, although it is a little fuzzy.

And guess what?  There were more tadpoles at the edge of the water too.
Coming down from the forest we had a good view of the hills.

This is Loch Rannoch from the village of Kinloch Rannoch.

We really had a great holiday in and around Pitlochry and it reminded me just how beautiful Scotland can be....when the sun shines!!!

WOYWD Wednesday

Just sneaking in with my desk.  Not a lot of change from last week, but there is a piece of patchwork fabric there that I am considering using to make some bunting, but I'll have to find some contrasting fabric first.  Oh and you get a glimpse of my white marble fireplace.

Please check the previous post out too, if you want to see some glorious views of Scotland.

Kenmore and Loch Tay - Thursday

Thursday was a beautiful sunny day, we had planned to do a different walk, but they were digging up the roads and we were not able to get to that forest.  So we went back through Aberfeldy and on to Kenmore to walk up Drummond Hill and back down through the forest.
It was a steep hill, but the view from the Black Rock was worth every step.

On the downward part of the walk we went through the woodlands, I loved how the light came through the trees.

Close up of Kenmore

This is the view from the lfeft of the bridge seen on the picture above.

This is the Crannog in Loch Tay, an ancient dwelling that has been recreated as a visitor attraction, we have been there before so didn't visit this time.

This is probably my favourite photograph of Loch Tay, Scotland is very beautiful when the sun shines.

Another photograph of Loch Tay.
